At Team 9033 – Ocebots, we recognize the significance of broadening STEM horizons for our fellow students. Our commitment extends beyond competition arenas as we actively seek to inspire the next wave of engineers and innovators. Having benefited immensely from our robotics community, we consider it not just a duty but a privilege to give back in meaningful ways.

Our outreach initiatives are driven by the belief that everyone should have access to the transformative power of STEM education. Through various programs and activities, we aim to break down barriers, making science, technology, engineering, and mathematics accessible to a diverse range of students. By sharing our knowledge, passion, and experiences, we strive to ignite the spark of curiosity in young minds and foster a love for learning.

Join us in our mission to build a stronger, more inclusive STEM community. Together, we can empower the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem solvers, ensuring that the benefits of STEM reach far and wide. At Team 9033 – Ocebots, outreach is not just an initiative; it’s a commitment to shaping a brighter future for all through the wonders of STEM education.

About FIRST Robotics (FRC)

Founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, FIRST, which stands for “For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,” is the world’s leading youth-serving nonprofit advancing STEM education. The FIRST Robotics Competition is structured as an international robotics competition, teams of high school students, mentors, and coaches work during an intensive 6-week period to design, build, and program their own industrial-sized 120-pound robots to compete in unique game-based engineering challenges starting in January.

The FIRST Robotics Competition embodies 2 main values, “Gracious Professionalism” and “Coopertition.”

“Gracious Professionalism” is an ideal that encourages high-quality work and respect of others and the community. It blends knowledge, competition, and empathy.

“Coopertition” blends the notions of both cooperation and competition. It is displaying unqualified kindness and respect even in the face of intense competition.

FIRST’s Vision

“To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.”

— Dean Kamen, Founder

2023 FRC Game: CHARGED UP

Charged Up is the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game for the 2023 season. The game is themed around power as part of the FIRST-wide FIRST Energize theme for 2022-2023.

Charged Up is played by two alliances of three teams each, with each team controlling a robot and completing specific actions in order to score points. The game revolves around both alliances scoring cubes and cones on their “grid” and balancing on their “charge station.” The overall objective of each match is to score more points than the opposing alliance before the match ends.
